Condition your lashes!
First thing is first… Conditioning your lashes with the correct skincare products! This is key before going in with any makeup products - whether its mascara or running to your lash tech for a makeover, having that time for your lashes where there is nothing but a natural treatment on gives them the time to heal from all the products we use for our lashes + any other eye makeup products such as, eyeliner or eyeshadow. Here are a few natural and common ways of keeping your lashes conditioned:CASTOR OIL: This helps give thicker and longer lashes and my eyebrow lady often tells me that applying it on the eyebrows is excellent for growth too!
ALOE VERA: Not only has the benefits of growing your lashes but nourishes them deeply through the hair follicles. Without dwelling too deep on the scientific side of things, it is really important to keep the layers of the skin deeply looked after as much as possible given the products we apply. Our eyes are also the most sensitive area of the face, so, making sure that the makeup has not affected the hair follicles is a must in making sure that the lash growth is possible!
PETROLEUM JELLY: What doesn't petroleum jelly do?!? Whilst there is no proof that this multi-purpose product has served to grow lashes, it is said to nourish them; giving them the moisture they need to stay health, give a shine and appear to give a fuller lash look - perfect for those with more sparse lashes.Curling your lashes and how to use lash curlers correctly
There are two types of people… those who have lash curlers and think they will use it but they “forget” or just jump straight in with mascara, OR, there are the individuals who will swear by their lash curlers and use it before their mascara application just like a ritual! I know that I am that girl who will always use lash curlers before application. I really believe when you prep your lashes with a lash curler you can get the ultimate wear out of your mascaras! Here is my routine with curling lashes:
- Heat lash curlers (safely) for 10-15 seconds, I use my hair dryer for this.
- After checking the temperature is not too hot, go in with curling your lashes.
- “Clamp” your lashes x10 and on the 11th “press” hold it for 10 seconds.
- Repeat on the other eye.
I kid you not this will have you in SHOCK with how amazingly it has lifted your lashes already without even going in with the mascara! I have attached a trustee lash curler by Brush Works, available on Look Fantastic - click here to shop
I would love to know if you try this technique - Feel free to send me your before and afters too!Removing mascara (and all eye makeup) and its importance
I think we all know by now that skincare is so important. But, what about eye care? Flawless skin is what we are here for, right? WRONG! Well, of course face care is everything too but part of that comes the eye care - If you are like me and LOVE applying something on the eyes, whether its a natural layer of mascara or a swipe of a shimmer shadow to add some depth to the lids, just to make you feel and look a bit more awake and ready for the day, then you need to make sure you are removing all that makeup too.
Here’s why:
- Your pores can get clogged
- Leftover eye makeup can lead to eye infections
- Leaving mascara on overnight can lead to puffy eyes
- Your eyes look duller as they are just not being looked after, and the pigment just sits on your skin over time making the skin around your eyes look more dull.
And if all of that does not make you want to reach for your eye makeup removers then this will…
By leaving mascara on your lashes to build up, you will cause redness on the lash roots and hence this will cause ingrown lashes. So by making sure that you reduce the bacteria buildup you will thank yourself in the future, and so will your lashes when they are growing healthily! Here is a great and classic eye makeup remover that is worth checking out - not only does it cleanse the makeup but thoroughly breaks down oily molecules which are regularly found in eye makeup products (to keep them waterproof, pigmented etc.) - click here to shop the Nivea Double-effect Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover - I have personally been using this for years and have gone through many bottles of it.So how does our Lift & Lengthen mascara give you everything your lashes NEED?!
Our iconic mascara which so many of you have shown love for over the past year of launching it delivers everything your lashes need to keep them elongated and give them a natural lift. The Lift & Lengthen mascara does not clump your lashes as you apply it, making it super desirable for those who love to keep their makeup natural. This means that as you layer on the mascara, it will neither smudge nor leak as the day goes on! The Lift & Lengthen mascara also has a formula to give you the ability to layer the mascara without giving a clumpy and drying effect. This is because of the nourishing feel the liquid of the mascara has which means that there is no dryness or flakiness as the day (or night) goes on. Click here to shop the classic Lift & Lengthen mascara, we know you can’t resist after reading all this goodness and we would love for you to try it out for yourself! And don’t just take our word for it, you can read more from our glow-getters here who have told us what they really think about our mascara!
